Dear MOTIVATION: The holidays always bring me stress because I feel an overwhelming pressure for everything to be perfect. I create a long list of tasks and expectations, but there never seems to be enough time to accomplish them all. I want to enjoy the season, but I end up feeling rushed, exhausted and disappointed. How can I reset my mindset to focus on what truly matters and set realistic expectations for myself during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? — OVERWHELMED SELF-INDUCED PRESSURE IN NORTH CAROLINA
DEAR OVERWHELMED: Remember that perfection is unattainable. Focus on the joy and traditions of the season instead. Make a smaller to-do list that creates quality time with loved ones, opportunities for traditions, and moments of gratitude. Memorable holidays come from connection, not perfection. Delegate tasks, if possible, scale back where necessary, and more importantly, create moments where you pause… breathe… and enjoy the little things and joy of the season. You deserve to celebrate without pressure!
